This astounding watch is a once in a lifetime find. Original owner's family has this watch. It has never been out of the family and has been in a safety deposit box for decades. Recently taken out and sent to Audemars Piguet for tune up and verification paperwork.

Per evaluation recently completed at Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus,  Switzerland,  this iconic timepiece is one of the very first released in 1972 in 18k yellow gold.  This watch is one of the first series and is numbered in the mid-100’s (with no alphanumeric reference).  It is likely among the earliest examples of the 5402BA available for sale today with the 6 at the down dial.
This exquisite timepiece has been securely stored for over 25 years.  It was recently sent to AP in Switzerland for service and restoration as part of the “Classic Parts” program designed specifically for the Royal Oak 5402 (estimated cost for this is approximately $6,000).  It’s an “all or nothing” program meaning that the owner of the watch may not refuse any part replacement by AP for “functional reasons OR if it will bring the watch closer to its original aesthetics.”   As such,  ALL SERVICE WAS DECLINED in favor of preserving the integrity and originality of this coveted timepiece.
